Ultimate Adventurer’s guide to Kalanggaman Island in Palompon, Leyte!

Tacloban Rent a Car

This bird-shaped island in Palompon, Leyte is called Kalanggaman – derived from the local word for bird “langgam.” It boasts a sandbar of pure white sand stretching at both sides of the island. Currently, one side is shorter than the other due to the different typhoons that passed the region but its pristine beauty is still regal.

Kalanggaman is occupied by palm trees, creamy white sand, and a perfectly clear blue sea. It can get crowded on the holidays and summer season, but everyone can still get their own private spots within the island.

Aside from the sandbar, Kalanggaman houses a marine sanctuary of diverse ocean life and corals. Nearby are famous dive spots you can negotiate with locals to visit.

It is preferably wise to visit this area during the summer season of March to May to avoid the rainy season.
